The Cannabis Chronicles (looking for bloggers)

October 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A while back, El Senor and I were talking about writing and I mentioned how I would love to write on the subject of cannabis without the muck the government has fed us. The writing plan was reverted to notes which was then reverted to nothing at all because I found that my writing was becoming less and less enthusiastic. However, we were spoke, I did mention that I wanted to call these “notes” The Cannabis Chronicles. Because I didn’t want the name to poof, I snagged it on WordPress.

So what’s my point? I invited Reverend Adam Zuniga of the Shemshemet Ministry to partake in the blogging experience and now I’m inviting any well read cannabis user turned blogger to share your thoughts on consumption, religious experiences, medical usage, recipes (personal ones, rather than reprints from cookbooks), etc. Anyone want to partake in this venture? Just say so in a comment. Thank you.

Things that I need/want

September 29, 2008 · 4 Comments

  1. A new, smaller dictionary for my bedroom (my large dictionary should remain at my desk at all times).
  2. Necronomicon Tarot card set (I have a reason for this, but I will not share it with anyone).
  3. The Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms (because I’ve always wanted it).
  4. Brown Corduroy fedora (because I’ve wanted it for years now).
  5. Blank journal (because I’m starting to do stuff in my “window” shopping notebook that I’m not too happy about – meaning, I’m taking down notes on people I encounter at stores).
  6. New music
  7. A movie recommendation
  8. Ink for my printer (this makes it onto a second list!)
  9. Employment (something that keeps me occupied, but doesn’t make me want to stay there long term)
  10. Brownies (hey, this made it back as well).

“Sleep to Dream” (Fiona Apple)

July 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I haven’t been sleeping right these last few days and I think it’s due to all the shit that’s going down in my mind right now. However, as if an act of Geb, I bought the current issue of Skunk (because, you know, I’m such the pot head) and there was this plug for something called Dream Boost.

I don’t take pills to sleep anymore because I’m afraid that my health isn’t as good as the doctors keep insisting that it is. There’s an underlining fear that something is wrong with me and it’s being over looked by the quacks that I tend to see – which, is what I think of all doctors, by the way; one of the many quirks that I inherited from my maternal grandmother.

But that’s not the point, really. What I want to know is more information about Dream Boost outside the website and the essays they provide. I’m one for word of mouth facts, rather something a website belonging to the product because they’re only going to tell me that it works and etc. I want someone I can trust to tell me that it works. However, this is not the case because let’s face it, my friends probably don’t know anything about this. This leads me to the internet and asking you, fellow readers, if you have any experience with the product or not. Any information and true stories will help. I just want to know if it really relaxes the mind and lets you sleep peacefully. I don’t, however, want to know about the awesome dreams you had or if it makes you dream at all or not. Just if it calmed you down.

This is what Skunk, however, had to say about the product:

When you’ve been toking a lot for a long time, there’s an irritable phenomenon of not dreaming, or rather, not being able to remember your dreams. Something to do with Alpha waves and REM—who really knows? But taking these vitamin-esque pills with ingredients like Passion Flower, Valerian and Melatonin should help you at least fall easily into restful sleep by natural means, which may or may not help you dream, but will at least help you wake up in a better mood.

Now that I’m on the subject of Cannabis (a much loved subject as I learn more about the non-drug everyday), I’m going to jump over to the other cannabis-related magazine that I bought along with Skunk, the almighty High Times. Now because of the article, “The Green Knight,” an interview with Ben Kingsley (of Schindler’s List, Gandhi and House of Sand and Fog fame), I want to see the film he is currently starring with Josh Peck (Drake & Josh), Olivia Thirlby (Juno) and Mary-Kate Olsen (of Full House, but most recently—for me at least—Weeds fame).

In the interview, Mike Gianakos writes:

Kingsley was engaging and insightful when asked about the film and his character, and flatly denied any personal experience with cannabis. “I’ve never, ever touched anything,” he said. “It’s frightening you know? Actors need to be totally in control, so I’ve never strayed off.”

Josh Peck, on the other hand, loves it.

While it is said online that the movie will be slated for release July 3, I doubt that it will be hitting a theater near me any time soon.

Marijuana, Saul Williams and Portnoy’s Complaint

June 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

As I’m writing, I’m listening to the replay of this week’s Marijuana Radio show. And while I’m listening to this – you may want to listen to this episode as ten minutes into the show you learn were it’s not safe to buy/use marijuana from We Be High – I’m thinking of what I’m going to do with my life.

I’ve come off as a pot head in a lot of the forums I ventured into because of my love for brownies and my knowledge of ganja. While I can teach anyone who is poorly educated on the subject, I am far from a guru of pot. If anyone wanted to know  more about marijuana, they should contact The Hawaiian Cannabis Ministry, or their local chapter of it.

This story, also mentioned on the show, disturbs me. I read that people are blaming the movies yet again, but not the fucking moron parents. It’s always a crying shame when the world will like to point the finger at Hollywood rather than the parents who use Hollywood as a fucking babysitter.

In other Ennui News, I’ve fallen in love with Saul Williams all over again. His cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday is one of my favorite songs. The fact that Trent Reznor produced the album also helped me migrate into his world of hardcore hip hop.

Finally, Portnoy’s Complaint is coming to an end – at last! After about a month of reading it, I’m almost finished with the book. Sadly, my reading skills has dropped as a book that might have taken me a week last year, has now taken me a month to read. For those of you who love psychology, I highly suggest this book. For those of you who are sexually depraved, I recommend the book as well.
